  • How long is a typical class?

The length of a class may vary from 1h to 2h. Standardized tests lessons usually last 75 minutes. 

However, we can adapt the length depending on the time and needs a student may have.

  • What are the costs of tutoring sessions?

The price of a session will vary depending on the type of service being given. For example, a corporate workshop will be priced differently than traditional one-on-one. If you are interested in scheduling a lesson, please contact Marianne at for more information or please fill out the contact form located above.

  • Will I have the same instructor each week?

Yes, you will have the same instructor.

  • Where do you offer lessons?

We teach both online and in person, depending on the student's needs and situation. For in-person lessons, we can travel to your place or you can come to Marianne's place. For online lessons, we use the platform Zoom.

  • Do your instructors work with students who have learning differences, disabilities, and special needs?


Yes, Marianne is used to working with students who have learning differences, disabilities, and special needs.

  • How does billing work? (Billing frequency) What payment methods do you take?

Invoices are sent at the end of each month (or at the beginning of the next month). We are flexible and we can bill at a different time if needed. We accept payment by:


- Check (pay to the order of Marianne's Alpha Kappa). Please send it to our office address

- Zelle transfer (

- Venmo transfer (@mariannesalphakappa - last phone number digit numbers if asked 1756)

- Wire transfer (please inquire for our bank info)

- Credit Card (over the phone) Additional fees of 3%

- Paypal ( Additional fees of 3%

If you cancel within 24 hours, you will be billed for 100% of what you were scheduled for. If you cancel more than 24 hours in advance, there will be no penalty.

  • How do I get a tutor?

To get a tutor, either fill out the contact form or contact someone directly via e-mail. If you need information on multiple tutors, contact Marianne, our founder at and she will help you choose the one who most fits your needs. 


  • I have never been good with foreign languages, How do I know your program will work?

Marianne, the pedagogical director and highest-ranking teacher in the organization, has immense experience with making curriculums that are tailored specifically to a student’s needs. If there is a school curriculum that needs to be followed, tutors will honor that. Using a multi sensorial approach, Marianne engages her students during lessons to ensure a deeper understanding than going right from a book. For example, sometimes a French lesson may be held at an art gallery or museum, where the student will express unique thoughts about works of art, gaining a wider vocabulary and grammatical understanding for situations outside the classroom. 

  • Will your tutors motivate my child?

Within Marianne’s philosophy is dedication and strong work ethic. She and the other tutors will ensure that if a child appears to be losing interest, there will be a discussion to find the cause, which will then be addressed. It is completely possible to alter a curriculum or style of teaching if it will benefit the learning environment for the student and contribute to their work ethic.
