Marianne's Alpha Kappa is a New York-based tutoring services company for kids and adults.

It started in 2013 with the intention of providing a unique educational experience.

We know how important it is to stimulate all the senses (a multi-sensory approach) in order to achieve the best results.

No matter your background, MAK will be able to build a curriculum that is aligned with the student's needs, abilities, and learning styles.

Having graduated in psychology and in national education in France, Marianne Yayane Verbuyt has shared her life between the European and American school systems. She realized that school curriculums cannot be translated as they are intrinsically linked to their language and culture.

The goal behind MAK is to offer an understanding of both European and American cultures and create a bridge, enabling its students to adapt and merge flawlessly between them.

 Our keywords are:

Our tutoring services include:

  • Academic support services for the French school curriculum, certified Exams (DELF, DALF, AP French and SAT Subject Test French), and French as a foreign language.

  • MAK Math, a specific program that we designed to prepare students to understand the U.S American math curriculum.

  • College admission essay prep (US & UK), a journalism boot camp, memoir writing, and literature classes.

  • Standardized Tests prep: SAT, ACT, ISEE, SHSAT, SSAT, and TACHS

  • Customized education for children with learning disabilities

We offer our tutoring services in NYC; one on one tutoring classes, online, in-person at the student’s home, or at Marianne’s place; and classes are taught in English or French depending on the subject. We also offer pedagogical training on-site or online.

Marianne has also developed pedagogical material to accompany the practice and learning of French conjugations in a fun way.

Marianne. Phrygian Cap. A French National Symbol

Did you know? The Liberty cap or Phrygian cap was the symbol of Liberty used during the American Revolution then worn during the French Revolution.

" In Yayane, I know that someone is looking after my child with the same love and interest as would I but with the knowledge and skills far superior to my own to encourage my child to succeed. It is hard to know how to even expression the appreciation I feel "

" Knowledge has the power to break down the chains of imprisonment and ignorance by opening the door to acceptance. "
